We are predicting that the colour combination of white, black and wood will take off in a big way next year. And why not? The look is incredibly timeless, and works with most themes you’re going for. We’ve put together a list of homes in Singapore rocking this palette so you can get a head start on this seriously stylish interior design trend.

1. This home has serious mid-century tones. Lots of vintage wood accents with black trimmings against a crisp white backdrop. We are obsessed with the bathrooms in particular, which feature eye-catching tiles, gorgeous motifs and vintage-looking pendants. The kitchen is another stunner, installed with unique bi-fold glass panels that help to demarcate between the wet and dry areas.

2. Combining the neutrals white, black and wood together often leads to a space looking timeless and elegant, which is what this apartment in Holland Drive is. The choice of wood flooring in an almost similar hue to the wood-clad walls create a cosy, almost cocoon-like milieu that doesn’t feel too stifling thanks to the white spaces which serve as visual breaks.

3. Decked out in dark wood surfaces, this contemporary apartment feels luxurious and polished. A black-and-white marble top bar presides over the living room, which functions as a casual dining area and a cosy spot for relaxing with drinks after dinner. Venture into the bedroom and be greeted by a stunning headboard feature, made from thin wooden strips.

4. Hidden, built-in storage swathed in woodgrain laminates reign in this BTO flat, all the better to hide the rest of the mess while allowing a curated collection of décor and furnishings to steal the show. Black serves as a handsome accent against the warm woods, creating a masculine themed space made all the more interesting with smoky grey, slate-like floor tiles.

5. The minimalist interiors, lack of décor and the pale warm wood used in this landed home lend a Muji vibe to this landed home. A sort of calm descends on this space, governed by straight lines and clean forms. You find the walls covered in white, while black—or charcoal grey—is seen on the furnishings. Wood is mainly found on the carpentry work.

6. The white, black and wood theme runs through the entire home, each colour component taking turns to shine. In the kitchen for instance, wood is predominant, with black serving as a secondary accent and white providing a visual contrast. In the bathroom, black dominates with wood from the vanity and shower wall serving as an accent and white coming through via the sanitary fittings. In the living room, an attractive wood-and-black TV feature stands against a predominantly white backdrop.

7. Enveloped in light wood surfaces, this petite and cosy condominium feels warm and inviting. Bold black lines, seen from the ceiling-hung wine storage to the bunk bed railings, evoke a modern and contemporary visage.

8. The white, black and wood combination can serve up a casual look too. In this apartment, the generous soft furnishings, textured black laminates fronting the cabinets and the rustic woodgrain surfaces conjure up a welcoming vibe that doesn’t feel too precious, making it the perfect retreat to lounge and relax in.

9. The personal touches are what make this modern rustic themed condominium home. In the living room, black-and-white photographs of the family sit on wooden shelves against a cement-screed backdrop. A rustic, antler horn-shaped pendant embodies the family’s love for the great outdoors. You also see their penchant for horses, with the master bedroom featuring framed photographs of horses and the kids’ bedroom decked out in horse motifs.

Designer: Story of Us

10. And here’s a home made for entertaining, with the dining table joining together with the gorgeous marble-clad kitchen island that features a hidden bench—more seats for the guests! Beyond the functional communal spaces, the bedroom is just as lovely and multipurpose, with the walk-in wardrobe, study area and sleeping quarters all in one convenient, open space.

Designer: Fuse Concept

11. Nothing says luxury like marble. In this apartment, the natural stone’s swirly motifs feature on the flooring as well as the TV feature wall, giving the space a refined elegance. Wood accents temper the monochromatic glossy surfaces and metallic elements, visually warming up the home.

12. The interplay of differing wood tones is what makes this home so interesting. The living room alone sees at least four hues of wood. The key to making this work is to gather wood in the same tonal family. So warm wood with warm wood, grey wood with grey wood, etc. A black-and-white backdrop keeps things neutral and less visually cluttered, so wood gets to shine here.
